Shift

An encounter with a mysterious stranger leaves a young man in possession of a ring capable of reshaping the world around him. What begins as innocent curiosity soon grows into an obsession as he tests the limits of its power, transforming reality with a single touch. His journey ultimately leads him from the streets of London to a surreal landscape at the edge of the world, where the consequences of absolute control force him to confront the fragile nature of reality itself.

This project began as an experiment for a mixed-media filmmaking course, where I wanted to explore the relationship between human-made and AI-generated imagery. My central idea was that, in today's creative landscape, handcrafted filmmaking has become the new "analog," while generative AI represents a new kind of digital medium. Rather than treating AI as a shortcut, I used it as part of the storytelling itself, employing generative fill to replace and transform objects throughout the film as the protagonist's reality became increasingly unstable. Since I wrote, directed, photographed, and performed in the project, it became an opportunity to explore not only a new visual workflow, but also the creative tension between traditional filmmaking and emerging technology.
